Private Therapeutic Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy
Our first contact will be a free, 30 minute - no-obligation - informal chat over the telephone at a convenient time for you.
This will give you the opportunity to discuss options and approaches and ask any questions you may have, providing us with an idea of what it could look like if we were to decide to work together.
As we approach the end of this session, you may have already decided to continue with regular sessions, or you may need time to go away and think about things before deciding whether you would like to continue or not.
It's important we use this first session as a means of getting to know each other.
We will discuss what you are looking to gain from therapy; you may not be sure at this stage, it's likely to become more apparent to you as you progress further in therapy.
You will have the opportunity to ask any questions or concerns you may have about working together, my therapy styles and approaches.
I may ask you a few questions to understand you and your background.
The information I gather will help us come to an agreement on the correct therapeutic approach suitable for your unique needs and help me tailor your sessions so that they serve to be most beneficial to you.
We will spend a short time going through some ethical and practical elements of our contractual agreement giving you the opportunity to address any relating concerns you may have. (You would have already received a copy of this contract agreement by post or email prior to the first session)
Any remaining time left in this session is yours;
You may choose to use the time talking about the reason(s) that brought you here; you may want to sit in silence, and it could be that you may decide to use the time differently. Most importantly, how you fill the space within your sessions is suitable for you.
Further Sessions.
We will continue with the therapeutic approach we agreed upon at the first session whilst retaining flexibility.

Our work together will give you the opportunity to;
-
Connect with buried and uncomfortable feelings allowing for your heart to open up.
-
Identify and let go of strategies that are not working for you.
-
Improve relationships.
-
Learn new skills to help manage stress.
Bringing about positive change.
We will have regular reviews to evaluate the counselling processes as well as our relationship.
Reviews provide an ideal time for you to express your progress - what you would like from future sessions and whether there is anything you would like to change that may improve your counselling experience and progression.
